About Dr. Durand

Dr. Durand graduated from Penn State University School of Medicine and then completed his residency in Family Medicine at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine.  After working for the Public Health Service for three years in West Virginia, Dr. Durand and his wife, Dr. Jane Sullivan-Durand, set up a family medicine practice in Contoocook, NH in 1988.  Their interests soon grew to include ideas and methods of complimentary and integrative medicine.  Dr. Durand was board certified by the American Board of Holistic Medicine in its first year in 2001.  He also worked with Concord Hospital to start its Center for Integrative Medicine.  Dr. Durand's interest in chronic fatiguing illnesses evolved into a special interest in Lyme Disease, as this is likely the major cause of chronic fatigue in New England.  Since then he has specialized in treating Lyme Disease and Tick Borne Illnesses.  Dr. Durand retired from his Family Practice in June of 2023, yet was well aware of the ongoing needs of his existing Lyme Disease patients, as well as an emerging group of Long Covid patients.  He therefore has opened this practice specifically focused on helping patients with chronic Lyme disease, associated tick borne illness, and Long Covid to get back to their fullest health potential.

Now Seeing Long Covid Patients

A new population has joined the post-infectious chronic fatiguing illness group: those suffering long term effects after a COVID-19 infection (long COVID). Since many of the principles of this condition mirror Post Treatment Lyme Disease, Dr. Durand is now working with long COVID patients to help them to return to optimal health.
